The Africanis breed is one of the oldest dog breeds in the world. They are observant, friendly, lively, territorial and need daily family contact as well as fun activities and plenty of exercise.
Because the Africanis has for centuries roamed freely in and around rural settlements, the breed has a strong attachment to humans as well as a need for space.
The breed is generally good around other animals and has a natural tendency to guard and protect the family. It is however naturally cautious in new situations and might be slightly aloof with strangers.
This wonderful breed needs no pampering or special food. It is consistently healthy and has over the years, amazingly, to some degree developed a natural resistance against internal and external parasites.
